After marriage and sharing a family of 5 children with my husband, I went back to school and completed my Bachelors degree in Psychology and then a Masters in the Art of Counseling at Franciscan University of Steubenville. It was the perfect place to integrate my interest in psychology and my consuming faith in Jesus, dependence on the Holy Spirit and surrender to the Father of us all.
After acquiring my professional license, I have worked in a variety of settings: Inpatient Psychiatric, residential chemical addiction, Youth partial hospitalization as the Director, Criminal Justice evaluations, Outpatient individual and marriage and family counseling.
I was an adjunct professor at FUS teaching Masters level classes of Human and Spiritual Integration, Marriage and Family Therapy. Group Process at a community college.
Currently, I have a private practice that focuses on adults, their life transitions, anxieties and mood management. Part of that adult life includes relationships, employment challenges as well as integrating their faith as they process their life. I consider it a privilege to walk besides an individual as they sort through life and it’s challenges.

Therese Criner

“When we try to understand what counseling or psychotherapy really is, we should see it as primarily a human encounter….An authentic human encounter always implies that I am, at least for some moments, totally present to a person, that I am fully with him. ….Thus encounter entails that I share the life of the other, the existence of the other, his way of being in the world.” ~ Fr.
